Two truths and a lie as a work icebreaker
Two truths and a lie is one of the most used team icebreakers because it needs no props and it gets people talking about something other than work. The usual trouble is the first person, who has to invent a lie in front of everyone.
Writing it down in advance takes the pressure off. Each person writes a hand in their own time, and the team plays when it suits them.
Running it with a team
- Ask everyone to write one hand and send the link to the team channel.
- Give people a day. Nobody has to be online together, so it suits remote and hybrid teams.
- Each person sees who they fooled. The real story behind a lie is a good thing to read out at the next meeting.
- In a room, use the one-device mode: one person writes, the device goes round and everyone guesses in secret.
Keeping it comfortable
Say at the start that people should only write things they are happy for the team to know. A surprising hobby or an odd job from years ago is plenty. Nobody has to share anything private.
Names are first names only, and the game has a word filter that is not perfect. Players can report a round.
